The Archbishop’s Benefit for Children traces its roots back to 1955, when Cardinal O’Hara initiated a Christmas party for the children served by Catholic Social Services (CSS) of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. Over the six decades since that inaugural event, generous benefactors have helped raise millions of dollars to fund dozens of programs that directly benefit children in need as well as their families. Over time, Cardinal O’Hara’s celebration has evolved from a one day event into a year round initiative to support CSS youth programs. CSS assists more than 162,000 children, adults and families of all faiths throughout the five-county metropolitan area comprising the Archdiocese of Philadelphia.

This year your support for these corporal works of mercy is more crucial than ever.

The Archbishop’s Gala for Children is a wonderful and symbolic way during this most sacred season to demonstrate your support for those works of Catholic Social Services that benefit children. Together we can provide help and create hope for children of all races and creeds who are in need of compassionate care and support.
